Department for children, schools & families hold vast amounts of data on children and the nature of organisations like schools means that an secure internet-based network like GCSx is the obvious choice. Free school meals is project currently under discussions to be piloted over the GCSx network.

Employee Authentication Service

This project, led by the Department for Children, Schools and Families proposes a stronger level of authentication of local authority employees who access central government data. DWP has been involved in the requirements development and has been invited to run a pilot in the Autumn of 2008. Whilst there is no technical dependency on GCSx, DWP is considering the extent to which alignment ought to be imposed.
